Mount Tam
As the music got darker, a fog rolled in and swallowed us. I was honestly a little freaked out. Then the sunset came, orange, red, purple and blue, right as I played my two most emotional tracks.
Behind the stream
I scouted a spot I run past for a peaceful green set. The graffiti behind me was so aggressive we had to pile rocks in front of some of the words. Also, matching my jacket to the wall was a bad idea.
Tulum b2b
Ten minutes left in my set, a tap on the shoulder. It was Solardo, done with his own gig, asking to go back to back. My headphone pad had fallen off and I looked like I shopped at Toys R Us. We played the sunrise anyway.
Seven openers
Playing a new country is planning and improvising at once. I bring six or seven opening tracks at different energies, feel out the DJ before me, then pick one and read the room.
